Everyone Gets a Seat at This Table
This site is built so that visitors using screen readers, keyboards, and other assistive technology can browse, read, and book like anyone else.
Our standard
Eklectic Kitchen builds to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, with WCAG 2.2 additions applied wherever practical. In plain terms, that means the site is designed to be perceivable, operable, and understandable without a mouse, without sound, and without perfect vision.
What that looks like here
- Every page starts with a skip-to-content link for keyboard and screen reader users.
- All interactive elements (menus, galleries, forms, image viewers) work with a keyboard alone, and anything that opens can be closed with the Escape key.
- Every photo carries descriptive alternative text.
- Text colors meet or exceed contrast requirements against our dark background.
- Animations and moving elements respect your device's reduced-motion setting.
- Pages reflow to narrow screens without sideways scrolling, and pinch-zoom is never blocked.
- Form fields have visible labels, and errors say what went wrong and how to fix it.
Known limitations
The homepage header video plays silently, with no narration; it is decorative cooking footage that respects your device's reduced-motion setting, and nothing on the site depends on hearing or watching it. If any content is unclear without audio or video, the same information always exists as text on the relevant page.
